Do you know about 999 BSL?

999 BSL is the UK’s first ever Emergency Video Relay Service in British Sign Language (BSL).  The free 24/7 service is in place to enable people who use BSL to communicate effectively when in need.

The Ofcom approved service provided by Sign Language Interactions (SLI) enables deaf BSL users in the UK to make calls to emergency authorities such as the police, ambulance, fire and coastguard services via BSL video relay interpreters.

There are two ways the service can be accessed:

  • Downloading the app – 999 BSL app
